St Margaret's Open Days
St Margaret's Church is open from 10.30am until 4.30pm on the first Saturday of every month for visitors to come and appreciate our beautiful Church. Occasionally, you may be able to view an exhibition or listen to a concert rehearsal depending on the events happening in church that weekend.
The church can also be visited by prior appointment on Wednesdays in term time 10am-2pm and we can also arrange one-off visits for groups - contact the office on 020 8318 9643 to discuss your requirements.
The Church is stewarded during open days and the stewards are all very friendly and helpful.
There are maps for you to follow with your attention drawn to major points of interest. We also have more detailed booklets describing the history and the decoration, the organ, the clocks and some of the people who have worked and worshipped here in the past.
We have two children's trails kindly designed for us by Greenwich & Blackheath Decorative Fine Arts Societies. The beautifully illustrated trails guide children around the different areas of the church highlighting design features, Christian symbolism and providing interesting facts about our richly decorated Church. The trails are available free of charge to visitors on open days.
There is also some information on both churchyards and a list of the local people remembered in our two War Memorials - one for the Boer War and one for WWI.
We are always happy to be given new information about the the Church, the parish and, of course, the people.
We have some cards, information booklets and church choir CDs for sale. Proceeds go to our church fabric fund and music fund respectively.
